Bob Dunning
Bio
Bob Dunning has spent his entire adult life working in the media. A graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Law, he began his writing career in sports, but quickly moved into general commentary, specializing in politics, humor, freedom of speech and freedom of religion issues. For three years in the mid-1990's, Dunning hosted his own three-hour nightly talk show on 50,000-watt KFBK, the top-rated station in the Sacramento market.
He currently hosts the daily, two-hour national talk show, Across the Nation, on Sirius Satellite Radio's The Catholic Channel. Bob covers a wide range of current topics and events, from embryonic stem-cell research to abortion to capital punishment to war to how people treat one another. In April, Dunning was in New York City to cover Pope Benedict's visit to Ground Zero and his address to the United Nations.
On Across the Nation, Bob also discusses how the major political parties and their leaders handle all the issues of the day. Bob brings on provocative guests, some who agree with him and some who don't, challenging his listeners in the way they think (even the many non-Christian and atheists who tune in). One of the goals is to show people how to make a difference in the world through positive actions in their everyday lives. Across the Nation has proven to be popular radio in terms of information and "listenability" while never straying from the teachings of the Catholic Church.
He continues to write his daily, award-winning newspaper column for The Davis Enterprise in Davis, Ca. and has received numerous writing awards, including being selected as Columnist of the Year in California for all circulation categories by the California Newspaper Publishers Association.
Bob has discussed current topics with leaders such as: Archbishop Charles Chaput, Edward Cardinal Egan, Bishop Thomas Wenski, former ambassador to the Vatican Ray Flynn, Pat Buchanan, George Weigel, Senator Sam Brownback, Congressman Dan Lungren, Judy Brown, Robert Novak and many, many more.
